Who We Are

The resources of Edgewood Psychological Services are convienent to the east end suburbs of Pittsburgh: Oakland, Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Oakmont, Wilkinsburg, Swissvale, Regent Square, and Edgewood.

Scott W Leatherbery, Ph.D has been a clinical psychologist since 1992 having obtained his graduate degrees from Duquesne University. His undergraduate work was performed at the University of Georgia. Trained in existential psychology, Dr. Leatherbery, for many of those years in private practice, focused on providing treatment for trauma victims, specializing in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and phobic/anxiety responses to trauma.

His practice has included testing and assessment since his years in the employee assistance field (EAP) 1985-92 with Human Affairs International where he was Senior Clinician. In recent years, Dr. Leatherbery has turned his interest to grief counseling, facilitating grief support groups for The Caring Place and for the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood. Dr. Leatherbery obtained his Certification in Thanatology from the Academy of Death Education and Counseling ADEC).

Dr. Leatherbery is a Fellow of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and a member of ADEC. Dr. Leatherbery is an Adjunct Professor at the Community College of Allegheny County, currently teachng a course "Death and Dying".

Developed/presented a 3 hour CEU communications course before the Pennsylvania Psychological Association: "Understanding the Workplace as Family", Harrisburg, PA 1994.

Co-presenter to the John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation local results of a national study to improve depression treatment in primary care settings, Chicago, IL 2004.

Developer/presenter (1985-1992) as Senior Clinician for Human Affairs International the following EAP courses for the employees/management of over 100 Pittsburgh corporations: Stress Management, Depression in the Workplace, Drug and Alcohol Abuse Detection, Trauma Debriefing.
